Default FireFox On Steroids!

FireFox on Steroids!

Fine tuning FireFox for Wicked Faster Web Browsing. This is More Than a Speed Bump!

Follow the steps below to make the config changes to FireFox and see it fly! We mean REALLY FLY!

It doesn't matter whether your on a PC or a Mac. This two minute modification will make a huge difference. If your on a Mac, you will need a mouse that can perform a "right-click" on the body of the page.

We tested the mod on both FireFox 1.5 as well as 2.0. It works great with either version. If you have not yet upgraded to the latest version; You can get it here: (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/).

If you are not using FireFox, you should give it a shot. With the speed bump this mod will facilitate, you'll be glad you did. For PC users it is certainly more stable than Internet Explorer 7.x; and for Mac users- you just may find there are not as many issues with certain sites (i.e. banking, online bill pay sites, and many others) as Safari. Mac users have the advantage of using YoJimo with either FireFox or Safari. You gotta' check out YoJimbo if you have not already done so. The combination of browsing with FireFox and "keyword" archiving/bookmarking with Yojimbo is unbeatable. You won't go back.

Ok, lets get started...

Open FireFox.

In the address bar at the top of FireFox (where the current URL is, i.e. the www. is displayed), Type the following: about:config

Then click: "Go", or hit your enter key. The browser window will change with a summary list of modifible preferences. We will make seven simple changes in this list (don't change anything else).

Scroll down to the section in the preferences list starting with the word "network".

1. Find: network.http.pipelining (put “true”) by clicking on that item in the list (it will change from false to true without typing).

2. Find: network.http.proxy.pipelining (puttrue”) by clicking on that item in the list (it will change from false to true).

3. Find: network.http.pipelining.maxrequests (click on the line item and type/put: 100).

4. Find: network.http.max-connections (click on the line item and type/put: 48).

5. Find: network.http.max-connections-per-server (click on the line item and type/put: 16).

6. Find: network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy (click on the line item and type/put: 8).

7. Find: network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server (click on the line item and type/put: 4).

Save The Changes: You save the changes by clicking the Right-Button of your mouse somewhere on the blank area of the page, then- Choose: new -> integer (from the menu).

Now you have to type/write (or copy & paste this text): nglayout.initialpaint.delay into the popup and type in the number 0 into the next window.

That's It! Close FireFox and restart the browser. Check out a few web pages to see the difference.
